Newsflash

Experience Outdoors offers a different approach to building websites.  The old way…webmasters keep clients in the dark, withholding information and making things seem overly complex in order to charge for every update or modification.  Our way…build a cost-effective site that is easily user-updateable, and then train you how to manage your own site...no HTML, programming or "web gurus" required.

Experience Outdoors launches Educated Angler

ImageOn September 1st, 2004 Educated Angler was publicly launched.  Educated Angler is the first of a series of "grass roots" online communties delivering a place for like-minded individuals to gather and share information.  Experience Outdoors constructed this portal using open source tools to reduce the monetary exposure of developing a fully functional online web presence.  Leveraging open-source allows Educated Angler to maintain a free membership that can be economically offset by low-cost advertising and sponsorship programs.

Experience Outdoors chose to deploy Educated Angler using a content managed open-source portal that was built upon commodity hosting options.  The technologies involved are:

  • Mambo Open Source CMS
  • PHP and mySQL
  • Linux and Apache

Low-cost does not mean low-functionality Educated Angler offers:

  • Blogging (Web Logging)
  • Hierarchical member management
  • Message boards
  • Galleries
  • Event scheduling
  • Swap and Sell

EducatedAngler's launch was combined with a very low-cost Internet advertising campaign utilizing Google's AdWords program.  AdWords allowed Experience Outdoors to drive significant traffic to the site without breaking the bank.  Educated Angler has received significant unique visitors and page views and driven strong membership since it's launch.

Experience Outdoors is looking for partners to approach other vertical markets within and outside of fishing, if you have an interest and the desire to build an online community to address that interest contact us at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
